PNM director-general, Datuk Raslin Abu Bakar, said RM16.72 million from the fund had been utilised for 806 writers as of April this year, during which 1,086 books, involving 832,859 volume titles, were produced. He said the books were produced by writers, including from the Federation of Malaysian National Writers Association (Gapena), the National Writers Association (Pena) and the Tamil Writers Association.
